Desire to Inspire

A few days ago, a good friend of mine told me that I had inspired her. Many emotions followed, including bashfulness, joy, gratitude and finally contentedness. I felt calm and centred, because I realized what was happening – my intentions were becoming prolific. THIS is why I was chosen to walk this journey, THIS is why I became the unicorn and THIS is why I knew that my last chemotherapy treatment and my second clean scan results were not the end of a journey, but just the beginning.

However, after mulling this over for a few days, I came to a big realization. I realized that I took on this journey and that I became the unicorn because the many beautiful people in my life (including this friend!) had lit a fiery ball of inspiration within me! I was so inspired by life, and how the people around me demonstrated exactly how to live, that I wasn’t at all interested in letting some crummy old disease degrade it, but rather enhance it.

One of the most powerful lessons I have learned throughout my journey thus far, happened when I met the most inspiring person I had ever encountered – the person in the mirror. Yes, Pinterest can be very “inspiring”, it can ignite creativity as you save pin after pin, and then never think about them again once you turn to the next app on your phone…

I have learnt that everything you need to do “life” is already inside of you. Not a single person can do your life and the experiences that you have been chosen to participate in better than you. How is that not the most inspiring thing you have ever heard?! You pretty much can’t go wrong!

Although it is very natural to be inspired by the people around you – that is probably what drew you to them in the first place – it is also so important to seek inspiration from within. And remember that you are likely a source of inspiration for the people in your life as well. You are doing what you need to be doing, perfectly. Your practices are the best practices for you, your rituals and routines are best done by you and your understanding of the world cannot be perfectly understood by anyone but you.

You are YOUnique, and you are a burning ball of fiery and beautiful inspiration! When you have a yearning for some motivation, insight or guidance, bypass the Pinterest app on your phone, and maybe head to nature to connect with yourself. Meditate in whatever way you know how (close your eyes and listen to the birds?) and awaken your inner voice of guidance and inspiration. You may be very surprised and impressed by what you find, and you will know that it is you-nique and raw material – made by you!

“To be inspired is good, to inspire is great”. Desire to inspire your family, your friends and even the people you will never meet on pinterest… but most importantly, desire to inspire yourself.

With love,

Tessa
